Emma Elisabeth is a Swedish Singer/Songwriter, artist and producer. Her full length album 'Melancholic Milkshake' was released in 2019. The independent release landed write-ups and brilliant reviews in media such as Rolling Stone Magazine and Line Of Best Fit along with flattering comparisons to female artists like PJ Harvey, Angel Olsen, Patti Smith and Stevie Nicks.
Emma Elisabeth originally comes from Höllviken, a small town by the Swedish southern sea side. After living in various places like Malmö, Stockholm and the deep forests, she headed to Berlin where she based herself and turned music into a full time career. Her nomadic lifestyle sparked different kinds of inspiration and collaborations along the way. This has resulted in a variety of projects and bands throughout the years; from touring Japan to making appearances on national TV - a road of self-discovery and artistic exploration that has culminated in her project Emma Elisabeth.
The swedish artist, songwriter and producer makes guitar driven alternative pop filled with contrast - it's gritty, naked and vulnerable. Classic songwriting gets wrapped in an organic sound of jangly guitars, detuned 80's synthesizers and stacked 70's vocal harmonies. After playing at SXSW 2019 in Austin, TX for the second year in a row, supporting bands like Sunflower Bean, L.A. Witch, Mini Mansions and The Japanese House on stage her full lenght album ”Melancholic Milkshake” was released on June 21st 2019 (by ferryhouse & Emma Elisabeth). The album is produced by Emma Elisabeth herself, mixed by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey) and features Ear Harvin (AIR, Tindersticks) on drums as well as collaborations with Petter from Alberta Cross and Nick Mc Carthy (ex. Franz Ferdinand).
”Her vocal shine over the Beach House-esque sounds that hit home immediately and give us an epic soundscape that is completely drenched in melancholy ” wrote We all want someone to shout for about her single Pilot. It followed the 2018 singles ”Soul Traveller” and ”Into the Blue” as well as her laid back rock n roll inspired track ”What a Waste”, and got Emma Elisabeth features and praise in international online press like Rolling Stone, The Line Of Best Fit, EARMILK, Tonspion, Sydsvenskan and GAFFA.
Her production matches a warm vocal with an arrangement inspired by alt-country, lush 70's pop and blues rock with a love for slightly detuned analog synthesizers, all composed into spacious and minimalistic arrangements. Her 6 track EP ”We Gotta Talk” was released in spring 2017, produced by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave/PJ Harvey).
